Despite having a long history as console gaming publisher, Square Enix's biggest revenue segment in the most recent fiscal year was its smart device/PC browser segment, highlighting the importance of mobile games for publishers. Additionally, global console game downloads also increased due to convenience and people staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
