Average daily ridership of Chennai Metro FY 2017-2021
In financial year 2021, more than 90 thousand passengers rode metro in Chennai daily. It was a slight decrease of just around four thousand passengers in the financial year 2020. Chennai metro started its public operation in June, 2015. The government was planning to invest more in the public transport section and several new metro routes were under construction, which would increase passenger traffic in the future.
