In 2020, US-based investment company Tiger Global Management invested a total of nearly 600 million U.S. dollars in Indian start-ups. The company, which mostly participates in later funding rounds, secured 21 deals that year and emerged as one of the most active investors for Indian start-ups in recent years. Japanese investment company SoftBank Group had for longer been one of the most important investors and followed second in 2020.
One of the most important players in recent years, Chinese tech-giant Tencent, invested only 55 million dollars in 2020, due to new regulations imposed by the Indian government in May 2020.
