Number of displacements due to conflicts in Egypt 2014-2019
A total of 3.2 thousand people were internally displaced due to violence and conflicts in Northern Sinai, Egypt, as of 2019. In 2014, the first phase of demolitions of houses in North Sinai took place forcing nearly 417 thousand new people to remain displaced within the country's borders that year. Moreover, in 2017, when the third phase of demolitions was initiated, the cumulative number rose to 36 thousand IDP's.
