Share of job loss and recovery after lockdown India 2020, by gender
During the post-lockdown period in 2020, over 46 percent of female workers in India had lost their jobs during the lockdown and remained unemployed. In comparison, only seven percent of male workers remained unemployed towards the end of 2020 after losing work during the lockdown. Overall, more female workers experienced delayed job loss and continued unemployment than male workers indicating a male bias across the Indian labor market in that year.
