According to a March 2021 study, 68 percent of surveyed culture-goers in Canada engaged with free online cultural events during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Meanwhile, roughly 13 percent of the survey sample claimed to have watched paid online cultural events as of March 2021. When asked about the period after the end of the health crisis, roughly a quarter of respondents believed they will engage in free online cultural events after the pandemic, whereas only seven percent think they will engage with paid online cultural content.

Supplementary notes
The survey questions were phrased by the source as follows: "Thinking of all the time you spent during the pandemic consuming content from an arts or cultural organization, what is the percentage of time you have spent consuming content in person versus online?" and "Once the pandemic has ended and it is safe to go to any event, what is the percentage of time you expect to spend consuming content directly from an arts or cultural organization in person versus online?"
The source conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell-lines) hybrid telephone and online random survey.
