Data conducted between the years 2015 and 2019 presented that the number of released European films increased over time, although the figure of releases worldwide are greater than the ones in Europe. When comparing with non-national European films on release worldwide, the number of European films on release outside Europe is approximately five times lower.

Limited or no data were available for certain years and markets (BA, CY, GE, HK, JP, LU, ME, MK, SE, SG and VE). Data sample does not include European films exclusively released in HK; JP or SG for the years 2015 and 2016, and in VE for 2019. These constraints do not limit the comparability of the number of films on release over the past five years, due to the low number of European films exclusively on release in these markets and nowhere else.
