A survey in May 2021 in the Philippines reflected that for those unwilling to receive vaccinations against the coronavirus (COVID-19), the majority of Filipinos cited the possible side effects of the vaccine as the main reason not to be vaccinated. Around 20 percent of respondents expressed fears of dying due to the vaccine or heard reports of fatality which discouraged them to be vaccinated. On the other hand, eight percent of Filipino respondents said that they do not like or need the vaccine.

The question was phrased by source as (translated from Tagalog): "If undecided if will get the vaccine or not: Why did you say you are undecided if will get the vaccine or not if you have a chance to be given a free vaccine that can prevent COVID-19? Why else?"
Question was open-ended. Up to three answers were allowed.
The survey was conducted nationwide with a total of 1,200 respondents. Survey base: 300 respondents each in Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
