In 2023, 69.1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) were emitted in Morocco. This was as a result of oil, gas, and coal consumed by combustion. Over the period examined, CO2 emissions in the country increased steadily from 49.1 million metric tons in 2010 to the volume in 2023.

The source adds the following information: "The carbon emissions (...) reflect only those through consumption of oil, gas and coal for combustion related activities, and are based on ‘Default CO2 Emissions Factors for Combustion’ listed by the IPCC in its Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (2006). This does not allow for any carbon that is sequestered, for other sources of carbon emissions,
or for emissions of other greenhouse gases. Our data is therefore not comparable to official national emissions data".
