Number of emigrants from Egypt 2020, by area of destination

In 2020, cumulative Egyptian emigrants amounted to roughly 3.6 million. Around 2.9 million settled in Northern Africa and Western Asia, with the males being almost twice as much as females. Europe and Northern Africa followed as destinations for approximately 604 thousand individuals. Overall, an increasing trend in the number of people migrating from Egypt can be observed since 2000, with slightly more than 1.9 million leaving the country.
