Amount of VC equity funding raised by start-ups in Africa 2020, by country

In 2020, the African country with the highest value of venture capital (VC) equity funding for startups was Nigeria. Approximately 307 million U.S. dollars in equity funding went to startups in Nigeria, followed by the 305 million U.S. dollars that went to startups in Kenya. The third place ranking is completed by Egypt, wherein tech and digital startups received approximately 269 million U.S. dollars in VC equity funding. Conversely, startups in Egypt completed the highest number of VC equity deals in Africa in 2020, which amounted to a total of 86 deals .
