Number of returnees in Libya 2017-2021
Nearly 605 thousand people returned to their homes in Libya after being internally displaced as of February 2021. The number increased significantly compared to the previous year, when the country counted around 568 thousand returnees as of October. From 2017 onwards, the number of returnees grew considerably. Before going back to their homes, these people were identified as internally displaced persons (IDPs), meaning that they were forced to leave their place of residence and remained within their country's borders.
