In the first quarter of 2021 it was calculated that Amazon held the largest share of the retail media advertising spending in the United States, namely 89 percent. It was noted that, compared to the same period a year earlier, Amazon lost nine percent of the retail media spending. Walmart and Instacart combined accounted for 11 percent of the ad spend on retail media in the first quarter of 2021.
