As of December 31, 2023, the Department of Energy reported about 5,585 megawatts of installed capacity of commercial renewable energy projects in the Philippines. Commercial geothermal energy projects had the largest installed capacity at 1,951 megawatts, while solar energy projects in that period had a total installed capacity of 1,421 megawatts.
Renewable energy projects in the country were created in fulfillment of the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 which encourages the development, use, and commercialization of renewable energy sources.
