Most preferred companies to work for South Korea 2023

According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, Samsung Electronics was the most sought-after company for jobseekers, with a response rate of approximately eight percent. This was followed closely by Kakao Corp. with about 7.5 percent.

While Samsung Electronics and Kakao Corp. are the two most desirable companies to work for in South Korea, their business focus and scale are distinct. As one of the largest tech giants in the world, Samsung Electronics has dominated the mobile phone market and television (TV) set market globally. However, Samsung Electronics has not been limited to consumer electronics – it also has achieved significant success in the semiconductor and telecommunications industries. On the other hand, Kakao Corp., best known for its free messaging app KakaoTalk, is a young information technology company with activities ranging from mobile banking to search engines, media, and transportation services.

South Korea is well-known for its long working hours and highly competitive work culture. However, South Korean millennials and Generation Z have increasingly challenged this traditional working culture and instead have started favoring a more balanced lifestyle. Unsurprisingly, after good pay expectations, work-life balance ranked second among the most critical factors that young jobseekers considered when applying for a job in the country.
