Number of people facing food insecurity in East Africa 2021-2022
As of May 2022, East Africa counted 58.2 million people with insufficient food for consumption. Food insecurity has been fluctuating in the region, driven by conflicts, economic crisis, low agricultural production, high food prices, and constrained access to humanitarian support. In April 2022, the number of food-insecure people in the region reached a peak at 63.5 million.
