In 2021, the shipment volume of whisky in Japan amounted to around 236 thousand kiloliters. This represented an increase from just over 132 thousand kiloliters in 2012. Major Japanese whisky manufacturers include Nikka Whisky Distilling and the subsidiary of Suntory Holdings, Suntory Yamazaki Distillery.
