In 2023, the Panama Free Zone led the list of origin countries for merchandise imports in Panama, with a total value of more than four billion U.S. dollars. The United States followed, with a total import value of around 2.7 billion dollars. China came in third as the country of origin of over 1.76 billion dollars worth of goods. Some of Panama's most imported products include petroleum, passenger cars, and medicines.
