The number of venture capital (VC) equity deals closed in Africa increased year-on-year between 2015 and 2020. In 2020, a total of 359 equity deals were completed in the tech and digital scene in Africa, over one hundred equity deals more than the previous year and amounting to a value of approximately 1.43 billion U.S. dollars. Equity deals in Africa amounted to 55 in 2015, so there has been an overall increase of around 85 percent during this time period.
