COVID-19: financial support given to arts and culture in the Netherlands 2020
In 2020, museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions in the Netherlands closed for several weeks to the public due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In that year, the Dutch government supported the cultural sector with three main financial support packages. These were funds specifically addressed to arts and cultural industries. In addition, companies and workers in this sector could also apply to more general financial schemes implemented during the pandemic. The Dutch government financially supported the cultural and creative sector with roughly 882 million euros in 2020.
