Tokyo Olympics viewership impact without international fans in the U.S. 2021

The Summer and Winter Olympics are some of the biggest sporting events on the calendar. Occurring every four years, the Olympics see the world's best athletes in a variety of disciplines compete for a coveted Olympic medal. The Summer Olympics in 2020 were scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, but due to concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the games were postponed until 2021 and would not allow international fans to attend. Despite this regulation, during a March 2021 survey in the United States, 51 percent of adult respondents stated that the lack of international fans would have no impact on how much of the Olympics they would watch.
