Opinion on needing coronavirus vaccines to compete at the Olympics in the U.S. 2021
The Summer and Winter Olympics are some of the biggest sporting events on the calendar. Occurring every four years, the Olympics see the world's best athletes in a variety of disciplines compete for a coveted Olympic medal. Sporting events such as the Olympics were severely impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In a March 2021 survey in the United States, a majority of respondents, 43 percent, stated that they strongly supported requiring athletes to be vaccinated against coronavirus to compete in the Olympics, while 10 percent strongly opposed this measure.
