Occurring every four years, the Olympics see the world's best athletes in a variety of disciplines compete for a coveted Olympic medal. Public opinion regarding these athletes can vary. Megan Rapinoe is an American professional soccer player who helped the U.S. to a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games and a bronze at the 2020 Summer Olympics. During an August 2021 survey in the United States, a majority of all adult respondents, 50 percent, stated that they had never heard of the athlete, while 12 percent had a somewhat favorable opinion of Megan Rapinoe.
