Colombia: police violence cases and victims in protests 2021

At least 43 people were murdered by the police during demonstrations in Colombia from April 28 to May 27, 2021. After Iván Duque's government tried to implement a tax reform that would require higher contributions from taxpayers with medium and low income, massive protests broke out on April 28. Since then, 3,405 cases of police brutality were registered, along with 1,445 arbitrary arrests. At least 1,133 people suffered physical violence by the police, while 47 victims sustained eye injuries.
