In response to a pre-budget survey conducted across India, 91 percent of the participants agreed that the government should provide additional funding to support services that protected individuals from gender-based violence in 2022. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the imposition of lockdowns in India, reports of domestic abuse and violence against women were found to have spiked nationwide.
