Share of women on executive boards in CAC 40 and SBF 120 French companies 2010-2023
In 2021, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, had expressed the wish that a bill requiring companies to increase parity in management positions (management committees, executive committees) be submitted in March. Yet, it appears that, while parity was still not achieved in 2023, CAC 40 (which stands for "Cotation Assistée en Continu", or continuous assisted trading, and is used as a benchmark index for funds investing in the French stock market) and SBF 120 companies ("Société des Bourses Françaises", which is a stock market index on the Paris stock exchange) have made great progress in this area in recent years. While the proportion of women on boards of directors was only 13 percent in SBF 120 companies in 2010, this figure reached 46.3 percent in 2023.
