As of June 2021, most refugees and asylum-seekers in Libya came from Sudan, representing around 37 percent of the total. Syria was the second most common country of origin and accounted for 34 percent of the refugees and asylum-seekers hosted in Libya. Eritrea, Palestine, and Somalia followed. In 2020, the number of refugees and asylum-seekers in Libya exceeded 45 thousand.
