As of March 31, 2023, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) owned 200 Mitsubishi F-15J/DJ fighters, the primary aircraft of the SDF. The supersonic fighter, also known as 'Eagle', is a modified McDonnell Douglas F-15C Eagle primarily manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries under license with Boeing; the DJ model is a two-seater training aircraft. The Air Self-Defense Forces (ASDF) are the SDF's operational branch employing these fighter jets.
