Public opinion on social security provision to unorganized labor India 2022
According to a pre-budget survey conducted across India in January 2022, 96 percent of respondents agreed that a section of the union budget for fiscal year 2023 ought to accommodate the provision of basic social protections to unorganized workers in the country. More than 90 percent of India's work force constituted unorganized workers in 2021, and primarily included self-employed workers, home-based workers, and wage workers who did not enjoy universal social protection.
