In 2021, vans made up the majority of alternative fuel commercial vehicle sales in Europe. 2021 marked a rebound in the popularity of vans, while their share in the fleet has decreased by around five percent between 2018 and 2020. By contrast, alternative fuel buses lost popularity, representing close to 7 percent of the fleet. Low-emissions trucks also lost market share in 2021, in part due to issues related to costs and infrastructure access, reaching just over eight percent.
