Share of acquisition-seeking SPACs with FPAs in the U.S. 2020
The majority of special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) in the United States had forward purchase agreements (FPAs) in 2020. A total 79 percent of SPACs had no FPA, while the remaining 21 percent of SPACs had an FPA. A special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) is a company with no business operations which is set up for the sole purpose of raising capital through an initial public offering (IPO), with the goal of buying an existing company.
