In 2023, the production volume of portable computers in Taiwan amounted to approximately 3.8 million sets. The region's computer manufacturing sector had reached the second highest output since 2004. It was due to Taiwan's successful COVID-19 strategy, the rising tensions between mainland China and the United States, and several government initiatives. Launched in 2019, the Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan was partly responsible for the positive developments, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
