Chili con carne was the most famous Mexican dish in the United Kingdom, according to a survey conducted in the last quarter of 2020. The study found that 98 percent of U.K. respondents had heard of this food preparation based on red beans and meat. The dish, however, is historically not part of the traditional Mexican cuisine, but it's considered to be part of the Tex-Mex style —a mixture of Mexican and U.S. American cuisine, especially from the state of Texas.
