Securities companies from mainland China accounted for the largest share of licensed corporations and registered institutions in Hong Kong with a share of 31 percent in 2021. Through the Stock Connect investment channel and the mutual recognition of funds (MRF), the financial markets in Hong Kong and mainland China established a close relationship that consolidated Hong Kong's role as a financial connection point.
