Somalia was the country in East Africa in which agriculture had the highest contribution to employment as of 2020. The sector accounted for 83 percent of the total employment in the country. Uganda ranked in second place, with agriculture corresponding to 72.4 percent of the total employment. On the other hand, agriculture had the least participation in employment in Mauritius, at 5.9 percent. Overall, East Africa had the highest share of agriculture contribution to employment in Africa.
