Pix had over 150 million users - including both private as well as business accounts - over the course of 2023, a sizable from when the application first launched. Pix is widely regarded as one of the more important instant payment systems - much like UPI in India or CoDi in Mexico - as they are deliberately designed to convert a relatively high unbanked Brazilian population into using more digital payments.
