As of 2020, the service sector contributed to 50.5 percent of the total employment in North Africa, the highest share in the continent. Close to that were the shares of employment in services in Southern Africa (48.4 percent) and in West Africa (43.8 percent). Central Africa and East Africa had shares of 35.1 percent and 34.4 percent, the least in all African regions.
