Solar photovoltaic panels require a variety of metals to be manufactured. By 2050, it is forecast that aluminum will account for an 88 percent share of the mineral composition of solar pv. Aluminum is mainly used for the panels' frames. With a distant 11 percent of the forecast demand in 2050, copper is the other main mineral used for this technology.
