The service industry across India saw the steepest decline in growth rate compared to previous years due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Trade, hotels, transport, storage, and communication took the brunt of the impact during lockdown months. During the third quarter of 2021, this segment recorded a strong decline to nearly eight percent in comparison to the 34.3 in the previous quarter.
