The participation of Latin America and the Caribbean in the global solar photovoltaic energy capacity has increased consistently throughout the past decade. In 2023, the region accounted for 4.56 percent of the capacity worldwide. Although still shy, this represents a considerable improvement from less than one percent recorded until 2015. Latin America's solar PV capacity surpassed 29.8 gigawatts in 2021.
