In 2020, video game revenues in Colombia were estimated to amount to approximately 417 million U.S. dollars. Confined to their homes for months and unable to engage in outdoor activities, an increasing number of Colombians turned to video games for entertainment. In a matter of months, the number of gamers in the South American country jumped from 1.8 million before the lockdown enforced, in March 2020, to 2.1 million when it was lifted in September. Among the segments with the highest growth during this period were mobile games, which saw a 14-percent increase in consumption.
