Green footprint of GRIHA construction projects in India FY 2016-2019
In financial year 2019, over 500 construction projects across India amounting for over 13 million square feet were registered at the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) council for green buildings. This was a significant increase compared to the previous year.
GRIHA is a joint initiative by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and was initiated in 2007. Similar to the U.S. - based LEED rating, it evaluates the reduction of emissions and the sustainability of a building.
