Only a few countries produce foie gras across the globe. In the European Union, which is responsible for around 90 percent of the world's foie gras, the production is divided among five countries: France, Hungary, Bulgaria, Spain, and Belgium.
In 2019, France imported over 49 million euros worth of foie gras from other countries, around 39 million euros less than it exported. In 2021, the commercial balance amounted to over 37 million euros.
