In 2021, close to three-quarters of European foie gras was produced by France, while 20.1 percent were produced by Hungary, putting the country on the second step of the podium.
Foie gras, or fatty liver, is strongly associated with French culinary heritage, and the country is a significant producer and consumer of the food product, thus it is no surprise to see it at the top of this ranking.
