In 2020, the Polish government had plans to introduce a sugar tax. As of January 1st, 2021, the new tax officially came into effect. As a result of that, the majority of Poles noticed increases in sweetened beverages prices. For 64 percent of those, the growth was higher than it was priorly expected.
