In 2022, Sierra Leone had one of the largest household sizes in Africa, with an average of 10 members. Senegal and the Gambia followed with approximately 9.97 and 8.56 members, respectively. In 2019, Sub-Saharan Africa was the world's region with the largest households (6.9 individuals), exceeding significantly the world average of 4.9 members.
