Number of asylum seekers from Ghana 2012-2018
As of 2018, there was a total of 5,635 Ghanaian individuals seeking asylum around the world. This was a significant decrease from the previous year, when over 17 thousand inhabitants from Ghana sought international protection. Moreover, the volume registered in 2018 interrupted the upward trend visible since 2012, when nearly 3,500 Ghanaians were asylum seekers. Furthermore, Germany was the country with the highest number of Ghanaian asylum seekers, recording a total of 1,872 in 2018.
