The majority of pet owners in Japan do not have sufficient disaster prevention measures in place for their pets, according to a survey conducted in February 2022. While over 41 percent of respondents stated that they have no measures preparing their pets for disasters, only close to five percent would consider their pets very prepared.
Preventive measures included teaching pets to listen to commands, goods used in emergency, and microchip implants among others.
