Zero Trust is a security model that allows organizations to restrict access controls to networks and applications without hindering performance and user experience. As of 2021, 44 percent of respondents working in the U.S. stated that their company had fully implemented a Zero Trust strategy, while for another 35 percent of respondents, the security model implementation was in progress. By contrast, Germany had the lowest implementation of Zero Trust strategies.
Deployment and implementation worldwide
Companies had to adapt to remote work setups almost overnight, then approximately one year later, had to acknowledge that hybrid work environments were a new reality. The need for increased security became essential. Another factor that drove companies towards Zero Trust solutions was the necessity of simplifying security tasks, all while ensuring improved user experience and productivity. As of 2022, only a small share of companies worldwide was not interested in implementing a Zero Trust strategy. By contrast, 57 percent of respondents stated that their company was either already embracing a Zero Trust policy or was in the process of developing one.
Zero Trust strategies in the United States
Many organizations in the United States have adopted Zero Trust strategies over the past years, being compelled by the idea of earning trust through entity verification. Some of the most important Zero Trust framework components for businesses in the U.S. include multi-factor authentication, network analysis, micro-segmentation, and identity access management (IAM). Single sign-on access management was one of the most effective IAM technologies in the U.S. in 2021.
