The restrictions introduced by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19 over the course of 2020 had a severe impact on the Italian economy. Many businesses were forced to limit their operating status or to close completely. As the chart shows, the effects were harder for small companies rather than for the big ones. Almost six percent of enterprises employing from three to nine people, indeed, were closed and waiting to open again as of the Fall 2020. An additional two percent of these companies were closed and did not foresee to open ever again.
